August Monthly Favorites
Happy Wednesday friends!
I feel like we could have snapped our fingers and that’s how quickly summer came and went! School is back in session, September is quickly upon us, and soon fall weather will be right along with it! (Or at least I hope!) At least we still have Labor Day weekend to look forward to!
I’ve got a good assortment of product that are discussed in my favorites today, including a majority of haircare! As someone who loves to try hair products, these are all tried and loved by me!
Firstly, I’ll discuss a new shampoo and conditioner line I have started using. As someone who pays for hair coloring, I always look for sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to make my color last longer. I usually use Redken Color-Magnetics, but I had a travel-size bottle of both the Love Beauty and Planet shampoo and conditioner and my hair felt SO soft after using both! I immediately went to Target upon our return home and purchased both of the color-safe shampoo and conditioner versions of the line and I am loving them. They’re also extremely budget friendly coming in at $7 each, a fraction of the cost of my Redken products. My hair feels great, it’s sulfate and silicone free, vegan, and a whole bunch of other things that make it also good for the planet! The Love Beauty and Planet line is great. I can’t wait to try out a few more of their products, but until then I’ll keep loving the shampoo and conditioner! I linked my color-specific shampoo and conditioner above, as well as the smooth and serene line, and the hope and repair for damaged hair.
Next we have my two favorite Living Proof products, like ever. Every time I stray away from either product, I always end up coming back because they’re the best! The Perfect hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo is truly the best at freshening and cleaning dirty hair. It isn’t just a powdered spray to mask oil, and it won’t look like that either! The other product is the Dry Volume Blast, which is a definite recommendation product if you have fine or limp hair! I suffer from neither, but I still love it to provide an extra boost at my roots. It also helps to absorb oil out of dirty hair, extending your time between washings! I love to spray it in at the root around my hair part, and I use my fingers to massage it in. Every once in a while you can score them both in a sale too, so you can click the heart in the links above to receive sale alerts!
Next we have one of my favorite hair tools. I use this baby weekly on days where I’m short on time to really style my hair. It creates a deep, wavy look that many of you have probably seen me wearing before. I enjoy using this tool because it can create a look that’s messy/wavy on days where I simply let my hair air dry, or a polished wave when used with straightened hair. Either way, it’s a versatile tool because it crimps deep waves quickly and if you lack any kind of natural wave in your hair, you can achieve a hair look you don’t normally! I’ve linked both the one I use (Bed Head) and a Hot Tools version that is slightly nicer.
As an avid lipstick lover, I’m always up for trying any kind of lip product, especially since my natural lips have zero pigment. When I saw a fellow blogger mention this product, I knew I had to try it out! Come to find out from my mother, is that this product has been around for a long time! Clinique re-vamps it every so often, so I picked it up at my local Ulta and I’ve been wearing it non-stop ever since. It’s the Clinique Almost Lipstick in the shade Black Honey, and it’s a great sheer lip product. Applies and feels almost like a balm, non-drying, and gives you buildable color! It’s the perfect lip product for everyday wear.
And there you have it! August hair and makeup favorites! I’ll be filming a tutorial in September on how I achieve my messy/wavy look with the above products, so stay tuned for that! In the meantime, I hope you have an excellent Labor Day weekend!
xoxo, Chelsea
