It’s time for some skin care blog posts!

When my mother first demonstrated to me how she used her electric face trimmer on the sides of her face, I was completely hooked. My foundation applied much smoother, my skin looked softer, and I knew I was going to have to keep doing it.
Then, the term “dermaplaning” started to be thrown around by the Instagram influencers and other bloggers I followed. Shaving your entire face to exfoliate, a better makeup application, and softer skin…sign me up! The first video I watched was from Abby Smith at Twist Me Pretty. She used these simple little razors to shave her entire face and I loved how easy it looked! I’ve been doing it ever since, every 2-4 weeks, and it just looks so much better when you’re fresh, smooth, and hairless!

Why should you consider adding dermaplaning to your skin care routine?

• It helps to remove “peach fuzz” and stubborn hair that covers your face
• Therefore, makeup applies smoother and easier (win win!)
• Exfoliates the uppermost layer of skin, removing dead skin cells that you may not have exfoliated prior
• Helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• Leaves your skin feeling so so soft!

A couple of quick facts about dermaplaning that you should also know:

• Your hair WILL NOT grow back thicker or darker after shaving
• It is not rough on your skin as long as you are gentle with it and use short strokes
• Anyone can do it at home! It’s easy and painless, but if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself, you can have it done by an aesthetician or a doctor
