DIY Beauty Treatments

Since we’ve been stuck at home more these days, I’ve tried several different beauty treatments myself to figure out what you can easily DIY at home, and the treatments you should probably leave to the pros! There’s so many different things you can do at home easily, and I’ll be discussing them all and giving you my sources to try it yourself! We will discuss dermaplaning, eyebrow tinting, eyelash lifting and tinting, and brow lamination. Let’s start with the easiest!

Dermaplaning

If you haven’t already heard of dermaplaning, it’s one of the best ways to exfoliate your face, and take care of stubborn “peach fuzz”! By using a small, single bladed razor, you gently scrape the upper-most layer of your face, revealing a softer, more even skin beneath. It helps your skin to appear smoother, and also helps your makeup apply better! If you haven’t seen it, I have a tutorial video for how to dermaplane that you can find HERE. The razors I use are these below.

Eyelash Lift/Tint

A beauty treatment that I have gotten numerous times is an eyelash lift, which can also accompany a tint application as well. An eyelash lift basically acts as a perm to force your lashes to curl in the direction you want them to, usually formed around a rubber rod placed along your lashline. I have a whole blog post just for the process (found HERE), and you can easily check that out if you want to learn more. Eyelash lifts are great if you want to enhance the length and shape of your natural lashes. Personally, I feel that this is procedure that is best left to the professionals and your favorite esthetician. I know many women feel comfortable enough to try it themselves at home, but making sure that the rod is perfectly in place, along with using the perm chemicals near my eyeball makes me a bit antsy. However, if it’s a process you feel comfortable with trying yourself, I know that the kit below gets great reviews.

Eyebrow Tinting

It’s basically a fancy way to say “eyebrow dye”, but this is an easy way to help your eyebrows to not only stand out more, but to also appear more easily if you have light-colored eyebrows. I’ve been tinting my eyebrows at home for about a year now, and it’s quite simple to do yourself! Just be careful to not get too much around your skin, as it will slightly stain your skin until you wash your face fully. The kit I use is linked below, and it comes with everything you could need, plus instructions! The tint process takes 10 minutes or less, so it is quick and definitely painless!

Brow Lamination

Newest on the beauty enhancement scene is eyebrow lamination; which kind of seems like a crazy term, except for the fact that you literally have to push plastic wrap and seal your eyebrows to cure the lamination process. Basically what brow lamination does is it also perms your eyebrow hairs into going in the direction in which you force them too. Often times, eyebrow hairs will grow horizontally, but by forcing them to direct more upwards, you can make your eyebrows appear to be fuller and more “fluffy”. Now, you can also have this service performed by an esthetician, but it runs about $100 a service. When I saw this, I decided it couldn’t be THAT hard, and I purchased the below kit and did it myself. All you need is about 30 minutes, some saran wrap, and time to not get your brows wet for 24 hours following. The process itself was easily, and minus some minor skin redness, painless!

Hopefully this helps you if you’ve been questioning any of the above beauty treatments! If you have questions about any of them, feel free to leave them below and I will be happy to answer them!
