Drugstore Makeup Faves

I’m back with a new blog post today on my favorite topic – makeup!

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve talked about drugstore makeup, or any makeup favorites for that matter, so I figured the time was now! I’ve got several tried and true products that I love that you can pick up from your local Walgreen’s, CVS, or my favorite – Target! I’ve linked them all below, but let’s chat first about why several of these are my favorites over high-end makeup products.

Face + Lips

Truthfully, I have never found a drugstore foundation that I actually thought would easily beat a higher-end brand. BUT, I have found many powders and concealers that can rival the more expensive options! One of my favorite powders for a natural finish is the Revlon Photoready Powder. I wear it on light makeup days over some tinted moisturizer for a bit more coverage, or use it on heavier makeup days when I perhaps have some acne or rosacea that needs more coverage. It’s a flawless finish, and super affordable too. I use the shade light/medium, and it’s also available in translucent.

A newer concealer I’ve been trying has been the Loreal Infallible Full Wear. I would say it’s very comparable to the beloved Tarte ShapeTape concealer in terms of coverage. The formula can be a bit drier, so I make sure to apply with a damp beauty blender to help it blend best and not settle as badly into any creases. However, at half the cost of the higher-end option, it’s a great dupe to try for sure! I wear the shade Cashmere (#360).

One of my all-time favorite bronzers is the NYX Matte Bronzer, for precisely as the name says, the matte finish! I don’t enjoy shimmery bronzers, especially in the winter when I need just a bit of color without looking overwhelmingly bronzed. I use it for bronzing as well as contouring, and it’s the perfect affordable bronzer.

Many of my favorite blushes are from the local drugstore as well, including my favorite the Milani Rose Powder Blush. Similar to the NYX bronzer, I love this blush because it is not shimmery, since I enjoy adding shimmer and highlight on my own. It has great color payoff, and comes in several beautiful, natural shades. My favorite is the shade Romantic Rose (#01).

Lastly, for the face, is one of my favorite lipstick dupes. The Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in the shade Rose Velvet (#130) is an excellent dupe for the favorite Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk (which is also one of my favorites). It’s not a super long-wear lipstick, but for $5 the color is gorgeous and it’s pretty identical to the other mentioned above!

Eyes

For eyes I have three products that I love, two of which are mascara products, and the other is an eyebrow pencil! My favorite mascara primer lately has been the Loreal Voluminous Primer, and it works so well in conjunction with the new cult-favorite Maybelline Sky High Mascara. This mascara released recently and caught fire thanks to social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. I finally got my hands on a tube (I prefer the non-waterproof), and it definitely packs a punch for a drugstore mascara! I liked it even better when used with the above-mentioned mascara primer.

The eyebrow pencil I wanted to mention is stupidly cheap. Try 2 whole dollars kind of cheap. BUT, the ELF Instant Lift Eyebrow Pencil packs a serious punch when it comes to filling in my brows quickly and efficiently. I personally use the shade taupe, and I’ve liked this pencil for a long time.

Hopefully this post helped direct you to some more affordable makeup items, and I’m sure I’ll be trying and testing out even more very soon!
