January Beauty Favorites
Winter. So beautiful when it’s Christmas, or snowing, or wearing all of the coziest sweaters…but not so great for your hair, skin, or your heating bill.
The long month of January is finally coming to a close, so I thought I’d share some of the products I tried this month to combat winter dryness. There’s products for your face, hair, and lips, so please read on and click the links included if you are interested in trying any of these products!
First things first. When I claim myself to be “The Product Junkie“, it alllll started with hair products. I love trying different creams, mousse, hairspray, and all of the texturizing sprays. However, I had never tried OUAI products and figured I should remedy that problem. I ordered the Summer Friday’s/OUAI duo featured in the next section and it came with a small sample of a OUAI hair mask and I needed to order more $$$ for free shipping, so here I am three products later. I HAVE NO REGRETS ABOUT ANY OF IT.
1. The OUAI hair oil is the bees knees. I honestly don’t know how I’ve gone without it this long, but I will never go without it anymore. I use it on my hair straightened for added shine, softness and frizz protection. I use it on my curled hair to seal the ends and add separation and shine. I also use it when I’m letting my hair air dry to help with split ends. The best thing about it…IT LITERALLY DOES ALL OF THE THINGS, and it smells bomb too.
2. The dry texture foam would be a godsend for any of you who struggle with thinner hair that lacks texture of its own (slick straight hair basically). I’ve used it when I have curled my hair with my curling wand and added it to the ends for texture and separation, which it does a wonderful job of! However, it can make my hair (naturally curly & frizzy #blessed) frizz if the conditions are good. The great thing is you can buy it in a small travel size to try it out like I did! It smells amazing, and like I said, can give you really great texture while still feeling soft.
3. The leave-in conditioner was a sample gift with my order, and I’ll be ordering the larger size of it as soon as this runs out. It doesn’t weigh my hair down or leave it feeling greasy, which makes it a great product for any styling purpose. Plus, the added hydration of a leave-in conditioner is perfect for dried-out, winter, color-treated hair. #alloftheabove #OUAIfortheWIN
I’ll start with a disclaimer that I struggle with sensitive skin. So in the wintertime, this struggle is only exacerbated by the crazy weather we experience in Oklahoma (crazy temperature changes and crazy windy). A few products that I’ve switched to this winter that I’ve really enjoyed have been:
1. The Neutrogena Ultra Gentle daily cleanser. Even recommended by a family member in dermatology, I have really found this cleanser to be gentle, yet effective in removing makeup and other daily impurities without being drying. My skin feels so clean and fresh after using this.
2. The Ahava hydration cream mask came in my FabFitFun box this winter, and I am so glad that it did. You can use it as a treatment mask, or an overnight mask for super dehydrated skin. I’ve used it overnight each time and the next morning my skin feels hydrated, supple, and doesn’t experience any after-breakouts you can sometimes experience with over-night masks. I just used it last night, and this morning I had a fresh, hydrated glow.
3. The Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. I have been dying to try this after reading hype about it for months online. I purchased a paired kit with it and the OUAI hair mask from the OUAI website. This mask is jam-packed with vitamin C and niacinamide to leave you with smooth, gently-exfoliated, and hydrated skin. This mask is definitely potent and packs a punch for tired, lackluster skin (which definitely happens in the wintertime or if you find yourself traveling a lot!).
Last but not least, the Lineage Lip Sleeping Mask. I CANNOT say enough good things about this mask because it’s seriously changed my lips. It doesn’t matter how much chapstick I use, lip skin flaking is inevitable in the wintertime. I put this on the first time with some mild flaky spots using the included applicator, and by the morning time my dry patches were instantly soothed and my lips looked perfectly hydrated and smooth. Lipstick applies better to hydrated lips, and liquid lipsticks can seriously dry them out, so get you a pot of this lip-gold and you will not regret it! Not to mention, it will last you a long time since a little bit goes a looooong ways.
This is just a sampling of the winter products I’ve tried this month to combat hair, skin, and lip dehydration to keep everything looking supple and smooth! For any other product recommendations, please feel free to email or comment on what you find helps during the wintertime!
xoxo, Chelsea

Hi Chels!
so cool that you are doing this! I am wondering- do you have a nighttime moisturizer that doesn’t leave skin tacky? It’s my pet peeve- I use silk pillowcases ( being a princess and all) and my face sticks to the pillow with so many nighttime products! Thanks Girlie!
Absolutely Brenda! I would recommend a gel-based moisturizer because I find them to be the fastest-absorbing and also non-greasy! I also use a silk pillowcase and never have any residue from them. The Neutrogena HydroBoost gel moisturizer or the Clinique Dramatically different gel are two that I have used and really liked!!
I have been wondering about that Neutrogena Hydro gel! I just got the newHydro boost Hydrating lip treatment with Hyaluronic acid -from Neutrogena – and I like it just as much as that overnight night lip mask!
