Laundry Room Facelift
Do you have a room in your house that is the bane of your existence??
I did. It was our laundry room, and it drove me nuts.
It’s our pantry, utility room, and laundry room. Our house was built in the 1980’s, and we think the laundry room used to be configured differently, but we wanted to do a no-demo Reno to make some functional improvements to it! Here’s what it looked like before.
I loathed the seafoam paint color and the single shelf over the washer/dryer area seemed silly. So I thought to myself, it wouldn’t be too hard to hang cabinets over here….and the brainstorming began!
We bought pre-made, unfinished upper cabinets from Lowe’s and painted those in our cabinet and trim color. Added door handles to make them look similar to the existing, and added a hanging bar over the sink area! So much more functional and easy to use! My husband also cut utility sink cover out of a piece of wood from Lowe’s so we could have a functional countertop too in the room. It looks so much nicer than the utility sink too!
I selected a bolder paint color, but I loved the teal color. It’s Sherwin Williams “Riverway”. My mom was my trusty painting assistant (she’s the best at painting!) and we added some functional storage, and moved the woven baskets to the uppers of the cabinets across the room to help hide some of the clutter and small appliances. This room also contained the typical, affordable “boob lights”, so we changed those out too for some fresher looking light fixtures. I love the bubble glass of them and they’re much brighter! All the artwork came from Hobby Lobby, and the patterned rug in front of the washer/dryer came from HomeGoods. I’ve linked some other things below too for organization!
Now I don’t hate walking and looking into my laundry room any more – dare I say I almost love it?? Crazy what a few simple fixes can make! Hopefully this post inspires you to improve a room you loathe in your home!
