May Beauty Favorites
Can you believe that May has already come and gone?? Even more so, we are now about to enter the exciting time of summer! I personally love the feel of summertime. Not necessarily the excessive heat, but the feeling of the outdoors, added daylight and the general sense of life slowing down just a bit. Not to mention, I’m a girl that always enjoys time at the pool or the beach…so summer is my jam!
For May’s beauty favorites, I have all kinds of products, for face, body and hair. I didn’t try an abundance of new products this month, but the products I did try I loved. Here are five favorites!
The first product this month that I tried and have added to my normal routine is the Kristin Ess Blow Dry Mist (available here). I’ve been looking for a lightweight product to add to my usual blow-dry cocktail, and this product hit the spot. It’s lightweight and perfect for any hair type and it’s especially great for anyone with slightly frizz-prone hair as it works to soften and seal the cuticle of your hair while blowdrying. As another bonus, it can shorten your blow dry time in the process! I use it everyday I blow dry, no matter the finished style, and at $14 it’s extremely budget friendly! My hair feels noticeably softer and frizz-free after blowdrying with this product.
Next on the list are the Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Drops (available here). I’ve mentioned these several times on my Instastories, but these are a seriously great product. They aren’t as intimidating to use as you may think, and they’re a great product because you can use them on your face AND your body! All you have to do is mix a few drops (usually 1-4 depending on the tint level purchased) into a dollop of your body or facial moisturizer and spread on evenly! They don’t break out my face, which is quite sensitive, and they give you a completely customizable tan. Also, as someone who lacks a face that tans “well” during the summer, these are great to also even out color! I would purchase the medium or dark color unless you’re extremely pale or fair skinned to get the most bang for your buck.
This product came to me by accident (kind of), but I’ll definitely be keeping it my normal routine! This is the Paula’s Choice Antioxidant Pore Purifier (available here). I received this product as an added bonus item with my last order from Paula’s Choice, and I must say it does work as it promises! It contains antioxidants and salicylic acid to help clear away debris from pores, while also refining skin surface and texture. As someone who suffers from a very oily T-zone and enlarged pores in the summertime, I could immediately tell the next morning after applying this that my pores were much cleaner. It’s also a bonafide skin bonus since it also contains azelaic acid and vitamin C to help brighten, while skin’s natural defenses are reinforced with non-fragrant plant extracts and niacinamide, another great skin ingredient. If you haven’t already checked out Paula’s Choice products, add this one to your list!
A crucial skincare item for the summer rays is SPF. Better yet, a product that serves a dual purpose for skincare and makeup! The Milani Prime Protect Primer (available here) has an SPF 30 and its protectant against UVA and UVB rays. It only has a slight sunscreen-like consistency, but absorbs quickly and smoothly, making it a perfect addition to wear alone, or underneath your makeup daily. I’ve been using it daily both ways for the past month and it really works well. We SHOULD wear SPF on all days of the year, including wintertime, but especially during these spring/summer months when we are more often outdoors and the rays are stronger!
You may remember me talking about this blush/face palette from the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty, but now that summer skin color is starting to develop I’m REALLY getting into this. This is the Tarteist Pro Glow & Blush Palette (available here). I’ve been experimenting with different combinations with the blush colors, and the bronzer and highlight shade are also soooo gorgeous. On multiple occasions, I’ve been complimented on how beautiful this blush is…so it is totally worth the investment for it’s capabilities!
So there you have it! Another run-down of the favorite products I have tried this month! June will hopefully be a productive month for the blog. I have content planned for more outfit coordination, Amazon fashion finds, eye makeup tutorials, and maybe even a chalk painting how-to guide! I’m excited to get a lot done blog-wise this month and get this summer started on a good note! Hopefully you are too! Thanks as always for reading along.
xoxo, Chelsea
