Spring Home Refresh
Spring is just around the corner, and I could not be more excited! The spring and fall seasons are extremely short here in Oklahoma, and I honestly feel like we usually end up skipping straight into summer…so once those milder temperatures start happening and the thunderstorms start to generate, we know spring is upon us! (Ahhh…the excitement of living in tornado alley.)
The official first day of Spring is March 20th, so I wanted to round up some ideas to help you freshen your home and get rid of some of that wintertime blah-feeling. I will link as much as I can for each of the sections, or if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to comment and ask away!
One of the simplest ways to freshen up your home and to eliminate winter blues is to throw in some color and greenery! I added the little green wreath and this small basket of tulips to my kitchen wall arrangement, and I love how it adds in some much needed color!

Another place I incorporated faux floral (because unfortunately my lovely cat will eat any REAL floral I bring in my home), was in our dining room. The corner looked so empty once the Christmas trees were taken down, so I wanted to find a substantial plant to fill that void. Luckily, Home Goods has everything you can ever want, so this fiddle leaf fig tree came home with me! (10 points for rhyming.) I also incorporated a new table runner to accompany my glass candlesticks and new greenery. Although it doesn’t get used every single day, I love our formal dining area!

I also added more color to our built-ins in our living room, incorporating colorful faux floral, vases, and pottery! I have an entire post planned on bookshelf/built-in styling, but I love how some of our most favorite things are incorporated into this decor area and they are displayed front and center! Some of the best places to find faux floral and greenery include TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Home Goods, Target, Ikea and World Market.
Your mantle is always an easy way to spruce up your decorative scheme by changing just a few things to make a large impact! I have had these large candlesticks from Kirkland’s for a long time, but I always change the other accessories around them to slightly change up my mantle-scheme for each season. Right now, I’m just using a pop of color with the blue & white jar and faux greenery. I also love to change the layering of items on my mantle or built-ins by using old books. Such an easy way to add vintage flair and function!

Lastly, I made a few updates to our front porch! Not only did I paint our front door with this beautiful teal color, but I added some fun rugs for more emphasis and a great boxwood wreath to my wreath stand. I can’t wait for the temperatures to get warmer so we can start spending more time outside!

This was a culmination of just a few simple ideas to help spruce up your spring decor scheme ahead of the upcoming spring season! I should avoid going to Target or TJ Maxx since I keep finding all kinds of things to use, but when I see it here it is all worth it! The important thing is to decorate with whatever brings you joy and lightens your mood–faux floral, crazy colors, or fun area rugs…do whatever your heart desires!
