Style your Closet – part one

Happy 2020 everyone! (I know…we are 15 days into it but cut me some slack…)

I’m finally feeling better after my annual bout of Bronchitis! So I sat down and did some content planning for the next couple months, and as much as I love sharing new products, clothes, and what-not, I also thought it might be beneficial to share with you how to use what you probably already have hiding in your closet! I love to revamp and get fresh ideas for the pieces I already have hanging in my closet usually from other bloggers or Pinterest. It’s a great way to get more out of your investment hanging in your closets!

The first item of clothing I’ll be styling this week is the ever-so-versatile chambray shift dress from Old Navy. This is a favorite item of mine, because it’s possibilities are endless! I’m showing you at least three different ways you can style this versatile dress! Perfect for all seasons, and especially now in the winter! I’ll also include linkable items so you can build outfits from this inspiration! Unfortunately I had to take photos inside from that pesky Oklahoma wind, but you’ll get the picture! (I even had a furry photobomber!)

Link to the dress available HERE.

Firstly, we have a simple way to spruce up this simple chambray dress…throw on a fun cardigan! Of course, I sprang for a favorite cheetah number, but any cardigan will do! It could have been a duster-length, or even one that hit below the waistline to add a little weight and interest to the dress. I’ve linked a great, affordable option for a cheetah cardigan below! (Because your closet definitely needs one of these!)

Another note, I love to wear my cardigan sleeve up so that the cuff of the dress pops out at the bottom. I just think it makes the overall look that much more finished!

Next we have a great way to easily make the dress more fitted for winter! By adding leggings and a black bootie, the dress is slightly more “dressy“! I also wanted to add interest by layering a classic scarf. Any scarf looks so cute with a shift dress like this, whether it’s lightweight for the spring or a heavier blanket-type scarf for the winter! Old Navy has plenty of affordable scarves this time of year, and this one is linked below!

A vest is also so easy to throw on over a simple dress like this! Whether its a lightweight puffer, a utility vest, or this sweater vest, the key here is just adding interest (and warmth if you need it!). I also styled these new wedge sneaker booties I just ordered from JC Penney and I LOVE them! The perfect greige color, comfy, and they’ll be great to style with so many things! Added perk, they’re under $40!

Last but not least, Dash and I are showing you how cute it is too to belt the overall outfit! If my sweater had been just a little bit longer, this outfit would have been perfect! It adds some waistline definition, as well as interest with the cheetah print belt! [Side note-can you believe how big Dash looks now?? I’m not crying I promise…]

There was our first part of what I’ll probably make a four-part series on how to style certain pieces in your closet! If you have something specific in your wardrobe you don’t know how to style, comment below and let me know! I’ll be planning the next couple roughly, but I’m intrigued to know what you guys thought!

Next week we will be discussing at-home manicures, so stay tuned for that! Thanks as always for reading and until next time….
