After-holiday Home Refresh

Welcome to a new year on the Product Junkie blog!

It’s that wintery time of year, where you hit the post-holiday lull and it feels too early for anything spring-related…but you aren’t quite sure what to do with your home? Okay…maybe just in my mind, BUT (!) I have ideas about this time! You can use it to your advantage to start the new year in a fresh and organized fashion. When I’m stuck inside more than normal, it makes me want to purge and organize. I started doing this with our closets and now I’m adding small touches to make things feel new and fresh. To start this process I hit my favorite store to get some things to help with the updating – TARGET! Here are some of the areas I’ve addressed so far: updating Olivia’s bathroom, bathroom organization and finishes, kitchen organization, and some other fun things for Valentine’s Day!

Child Bathroom

With Olivia getting older and older by the day, she had sized out of some of her infant towels. This led me to look for new hooded towels for her, and I found these super cute ones from Target! The Pillowfort line has tons of cute new towels and bath accessories right now, so I wanted to spruce up our guest bathroom a bit and give it a few children’s touches!

Organization

When I get on an organization kick, it spirals into an entire house project. I start with closets, cabinets, and it usually develops into a huge task until I’m not happy until I’ve touched every room in our house. Luckily, Target and Amazon have tons of products for this right now. There’s a new line called Brightroom at Target, and I picked up several products to organize my kitchen and bathroom cabinets with. The metal sliding shelf baskets were especially helpful under my bathroom sinks! I used the clear ones under our kitchen sink too.

Decorative Touches

I also love to give my home a couple updates after the holidays just to make things feel a little fresher before spring rolls around. This includes new greenery (faux or real), throw pillows, updated pictures in picture frames, fresh dishes…you name it! I especially love the 4 coordinating mugs I linked above because they give me a very Anthropologie-esque vibe! I also picked up the linked gorgeous kitchen rug and I love it’s vibrant colors and it is Roomba friendly!

Valentine’s Day

Last but not least, a few items for Valentine’s Day! You could ask my husband how into Valentine’s Day I get and the answer would be – not much. I wouldn’t say I’m a big Valentine’s hater, and I hope I see more fun in it as Olivia gets older. We usually use the holiday for a nice date night, and that’s about it! But I do like to add a few fun things around the house to add some color and a little extra love couldn’t hurt either! I have most of the things linked above in my home, and they’re fun to have out for a couple weeks!

Hopefully this post has given you some ideas and inspiration for getting your house organized and spruced up for the new year! If you have any other great ideas, please share them below! We are planning a laundry room rehab for February, so I’ll be excited to share that process with you too and what we do!
