Lash Lift 101
Hello lovelies!
Now that some aestheticians and beauty salons are slowly starting the reopen in some areas of the country, I decided that it would be a great time to share my lash lift process with you guys! Lash lifts are an easy way to achieve a lasting curl in your lashes, which helps them also to look longer! Imagine the effects of an eyelash curler daily, only better…that’s basically what a lash lift can do for you! It’s a much more natural look to lash extensions, and it enhances your natural lash easily. If you also have light colored eyelashes, a tint can also be applied to help give your lashes a darker look and be more naturally noticeable.
Some FAQ about the lash lift process:
How long does the process take?
About 30-45 minutes, start to finish.
Is it painful?
Not at all! The lash tape can be a bit uncomfortable at first, but you quickly get used to it!
How long do results typically last?
About 6-8 weeks, depending on your lash growth cycle.
Your lashes fall gracefully back to their original position as the effects wear off.
How much does it cost?
Generally around $75 a session.
Here are my “before” pictures below.
Now on to the next steps:
First, tape or adhesive is applied to help hold down your lower lash line safely so none of the lifting serums make it down there. Don’t worry, the tape is gentle so it won’t rip any of your lashes out!
Then, a customized rod is selected and stuck to your upper eyelid. The rod size is usually selected by the aesthetician based on your lash length. You want that perfect curl, without them curling back into your eyelid!
Next, the creams will start to be applied. This is basically a perm for your eyelashes. A retexturizing cream is applied first, then followed by a neutralizing cream (blue). These sit on your lashes for around 15 minutes each. Your aesthetician will comb and brush your lashes so they are perfectly in place before and during this process. You don’t need wonky curled lashes!
When the neutralizing cream has finished, it is wiped off. You can now tint your lashes at this step if you choose to do so.
Lastly, after everything has set and the rod and tape is removed, they will apply a conditioning serum to help moisturize those lashes! And voila! You can see my freshly curled lashes below. I didn’t apply the tint this time, but you can tell how much curl they have, and without mascara no less!
I realize the true before-to-after picture can be hard to see in the pictures since my lashes are a bit lighter in color, but the results of this process are magnified even more when you apply that first coat of mascara! It’s such a great alternative to lash extensions, which can be damaging to your natural lash growth and are much more expensive.
If you’re local to the OKC area, you can go visit my friend, makeup artist and aesthetician Emily Mays at The Billie Sue Salon! She is the sweetest thing, and not only takes pics for me when I ask her, but always does such an amazing job in all of her different services! But if you’re not local to Oklahoma, you can easily Google search to find an aesthetician in your area that offers this service! If you have any questions about the process, feel free to leave them below and I will answer them! Until next week….
