September Favorites

It’s officially OCTOBER! Which means a couple things…

1. Fall is really almost here. My favorite season!
2. Hocus Pocus will be on TV 50 million times, so brace yourselves.
3. I’m officially late with September favorites. Oops.

If you haven’t caught it on social media, I have had my hands full over the last three days with our new puppy, and I’m literally only getting to write this because he’s sleeping in his crate for the night and my husband is sleeping. It’s bedtime, and now I can finally work! We are loving the puppy life, but wow it is crazy! When I adopted my past pup, he was already past the puppy stage so I never had to deal with the insane amount of energy this little 5 month fluff ball contains. It’s taking a lot of patience, co-parenting, and coffee…but we are having a blast learning his spunky personality! But enough about Dash-let’s get to the beauty talk! I’ve got a couple favorites for the month including an oldie-but a goodie product I had forgotten about, some powerful eye creams, and my favorite transitional lip color!

First we have two eye creams that I’ve recently been relying on on a daily basis. The first is the Dr. Brandt No More Baggage eye cream. I have been using this for months, and I must say that most mornings I’m really impressed with how well it works! Within 10 minutes my under-eye area is significantly less puffy, which is a feat with a puppy and a horrendous allergy season! However, after watching The Rambling Redhead (she is hilarious if you’re not already following her…) discuss another eye cream she uses with it, I purchased the second one too to test out. The Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream is a much smoother formula and feels more hydrating than the Dr. Brandt, but doesn’t pack AS much de-puffing punch. When used together, they make an excellent team! But if you suffer from a drier under-eye area, I would probably try the Origins first!

Next I want to discuss a product I forgot that I had (product junkie problems). When moving stuff around in our bathroom to begin tearing out the tile floor, I had to move my makeup table. I found at the back of the drawer a full-size, barely used, Becca Soft Light Blurring Powder. I believe I had purchased this last summer, tried it a few times, didn’t know what to think…so I pushed it to the back of the drawer. I got it out again to use over my tinted moisturizer I use in the mornings and I am SO glad I found it again! I still set my under-eye area and T-Zone (where I am oiliest) with my IT Cosmetics setting powder, but then I applied the Becca blurring powder lightly everywhere else. It’s a gorgeous powder, with super fine particles that give you that “lit from within” kind of glow. It helps to correct complexion imperfections, and by keeping it away from my oily-prone areas, it looks SO much better!

Lastly, (I know I’m keeping it short this month….) is one of my favorite lipsticks I’ve transitioned back into my purse for fall. Last winter, I fell in love with Bite beauty and their lip products. They make an amazing, lasting lipstick. I tried a million different shades in Sephora with my mom and sister, deciding that “Pepper” was the perfect shade for me. And really, each shade looks different on everyone! But they’re extremely well-lasting and hydrating for being a matte finish, and their brand is clean and cruelty free! Even better, they’re all half-price right now at Sephora making them $13!! Go to the store and find your perfect shade, and if you don’t live near a Sephora, remember that they will always be happy to do returns or exchanges for anything you don’t love!

[And side note: the pictures on the website are NOT the truest of color representation. Pepper is a dusty mauve, but the picture online looks SOOOO dark. So keep that in mind when selecting. Go off the descriptions rather than the image. Pepper, Chai and Fig are all beautiful transitional shades!]

I’ve got all the posts planned out for the month, including our upcoming bathroom project, so it should be exciting! And with a new puppy, I’ve got to get some work done at any chance I get when I’m not letting him outside fifty times a day! Have a lovely rest of your week, junkies!

xoxo, Chelsea
